Oil Transfer is the Best. Seriously.

I can’t overstate what a fan I am of using an oil transfer to get a drawing from paper to panel or canvas.  It is the superior technique.  I used it today, with excellent results, and once it dries just a bit, I will be ready to start the under-painting for this reading-themed piece.  I’ll use ‘Space Reader’ as a working title.

I used a 0.5mm mechanical pencil to trace over the drawing, and was able to get a really nice level of detail in the transfer.  I find the basic shadow hatching to be really useful when a drawing has as many little drapery folds and contours as this one does.
