Icarus’s New Wings, and Color!

Whew! It’s been a busy…wow…almost two months since I posted images of the completed under-painting for the Icarus/Daedalus commission painting. I have finally started color work, but only after taking a little over 5 weeks to modify the under-painting in the form of a major wing upgrade for Icarus.

The color is coming along nicely, and I continue to be amazed how much of a difference the under-painting stage, as time consuming as it is, makes to the quality and ease of the color work. So far I have been painting color directly over the under-painting without the use of any glazing or medium.

I’m also really enjoying working at this scale.

I’ll post another update once I get work work done on the cliffs.
